Sustainable Development Conference Series

Since 1995, the Sustainable Development Conference (SDC), hosted annually by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), serves as a premier forum for dialogue on sustainable development issues in Pakistan and the broader Asia region. Modelled as a high-level gathering, it brings together government officials, policymakers, researchers, business leaders, and civil society to discuss key policy challenges and collaborative strategies for advancing sustainable development between the Global South and North.

Over the past two+ decades, the SDC has fostered meaningful exchanges on pressing topics, including climate change, energy transitions, food security, trade, gender, poverty alleviation and socioeconomic inequality. The conference, thus, aims to shape policy solutions and promote innovative collaborations across sectors by facilitating dialogue between local and international participants.

Each edition of the SDC also serves as a platform for identifying opportunities, sharing regional best practices, and aligning national policies with global development agendas. With growing attention on topics such as climate finance, green recovery, and digital transformation, the SDC has established itself as a key player in shaping not only Pakistan’s sustainable development trajectory and fostering long-term resilience but also of the Global South.

Each event culminates in the publication of an anthology - a testament to the rigorous peer-reviewed research inspired by the conference. These anthologies encapsulate the rich dialogues, insights, and pioneering discussions from their respective SDCs.
