About the Editors
Uzma Tariq Haroon is Director of the Sustainable Development Conference
(SDC) Unit; and Managing Editor of the Journal of Development Policy,
Research & Practice at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute in
Pakistan. With over 30 years of experience in media and communication, she
has been the driving force behind SDPI’s annual international conference
series since 2003. She is also co-editor of the past 22 SDC anthologies,
including this one. Earlier in her career, she worked with the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) on the ‘Portrayal of Women in Media’ project
and spent over a decade at The Nation newspaper, where she served as editor
of a weekly magazine and senior reporter covering the social sector. She
holds a Master’s in Communications from the University of Hawaii, USA; and
Master’s in Journalism from the University of Punjab, Pakistan.
Sarah Siddiq Aneel is a publishing and policy professional with 22+ years’
experience in Pakistan’s development sector. Her work spans organisational
governance, multi-donor programme coordination, strategy, evaluation, and
primary research, alongside substantial scholarly publishing experience. She
is the founding editor of several peer-reviewed journals—most recently the
Journal of Aerospace & Security Studies—and has edited 55+ nonfiction and
8 fiction titles across sustainable development, environmental governance,
international relations, defence and security, emerging technologies, and
political economy. Given her extensive background, she is frequently invited
to provide expert reviews for high-impact international policy publications. A
Chevening Fellow (Governance and Environmental Democracy, University of
Wolverhampton) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS)-
McGill Fellow (Social Enterprise Development), she also serves on the
Advisory Board of the Journal of Development Policy, Research & Practice and
is a Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW) Fellow of the Pakistan Navy.
Tayyaba Hanif is Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Conference
(SDC) Unit at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute in Pakistan. Since
2017, she has managed high-level conferences and academic publications,
with 16 years’ experience in communications and coordination. For this
anthology, she led chapter reviews, reference standardisation, and related
editorial processes. She holds a Master’s in Gender and Women’s Studies and
a Bachelor’s in History and Political Science.
